Midwest Ophthalmologic Symposium

The Retina Institute in conjunction with the Retina Research & Development Foundation was pleased to present and sponsor The Midwest Ophthalmologic Symposium featuring The 39th Annual Visiting Professor Lecture Series on Saturday, September 9, 2023. The conference was held at the Eric P. Newman Educational Center on the campus of the Washington University School of Medicine.

Organizers secured Neil M. Bressler, MD faculty member of the Wilmer Eye Institute to deliver the 2023 Seslen Visiting Professor Lecture. Dr. Bressler is the inaugural James P. Gills Professor of Ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The topic of this year’s lecture was: Evolution of Managing Diabetic Macular Edema in the 21st Century.

Also appearing as a guest speaker was Gregory Kosmorsky, DO staff physician in the Department of Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute.

In addition, Gaurav K. Shah, MD retina specialist at West Coast Retina in San Francisco represented the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company (OMIC) and discussed ways to reduce the possibility of medical malpractice suits with the talk Mitigating The Risk Of Endophthalmitis Claims.
